Weston's Board of Education on Monday, Oct. 19, approved a three-year contract that would give the district's school administrators raises of 3.5% in the first year and 3.25% in each of the next two.
The contract with the Weston Administrators Association, the union for the district's administrators, runs from July 1, 2027, to June 30, 2030, picking up when the current one-year agreement ends. Administrators not yet at the top of the salary scale will also move up a step each year. Their share of the cost of their medical and dental insurance goes from 22% now to 23.5% by the final year.
The board approved it by voice vote, with no one opposed, after discussing it in a closed session before the meeting.
The board is also looking at outside help talking with residents about the middle school. Board Chair Deborah Low proposed asking Superintendent Erica Forti and Chief Financial and Operations Officer Phillip Cross to invite firms to propose help with "communication and public engagement" on a possible Weston Middle School project, as the agenda put it. No vote was taken. Low brought it up at a committee meeting on Oct. 16.
"We're not committing yet," Low said. "There's no contract in front of us." She said she hoped the board could look at what firms offer by its next meeting.
The board also approved its 2026–27 goals, which Low has said are its first set of annual goals. It held off on the calendar for building next year's school budget until a revised version comes back. And it approved James Bruni as assistant principal of Weston Intermediate School, effective Oct. 20.
The board next meets Monday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m., in person, Low said.
